Yoga Challenge: Niyamas (Personal Observances) #1 – Saucha (Purity)

Happy Day 29 of our 30 Day Yoga Challenge – Saucha

Good Morning Yogis! We completed our round of practices of the Yamas and now we are moving on to the Niyamas! Last time we practiced the first of the Niyamas – Saucha (Purity) with our bodies, with a deep clean or pampering self-care practice. Today we will try a different form of Saucha.

Daily Yogi Yamas - Saucha, Santosha, Tapas, Svadhyaya, Ishvara Pranidhana

Today’s Positive Practice suggestion

Today’s Daily Yogi Practice is to actively exercise Saucha or purity with our surroundings. I personally do not do well when my home is cluttered or disorganized. I need everything to have its own place to go back to, or else I cannot find anything! Pick an area of your home or office to declutter and clean. Get storage bins, drawer organizers, or whatever you need to help yourself keep this area clean and organized going forward. Whether it is your closet, garage, junk drawer, basement, car, or your e-mail inbox, work on bringing Saucha to one of your spaces that you feel needs some TLC.

  1. My house is usually in order because I can’t stand a messy house. It puts me in such a sour mood that I really try my best to keep on top of everything! My husband always jokes that I know where everything is but it’s true! I do need to go through my girls rooms again. They are both growing up that we can donate some old toys.

  2. I also try to stay pretty organized, clutter or a messy house definitely has an impact on my moods. We are packing up for a move so this was perfect timing! I have a bunch of brand new moving boxes and storage bins to get things going, and got some great cedar storage chests for clothing and blankets, etc. It has felt really good starting the process of “keep, donate, or toss” with a lot of our stuff!

  3. I’m exactly the same way and can’t stand looking at clutter. I always say my mind’s so scattered that I need my belongings organized in order to function 😆 I spent a lot of time this weekend organizing closets/cabinets that we kind of just threw everything into with no rhyme or reason when we moved in 3 years ago. Although I struggle with figuring out HOW to organize things, I enjoy doing it because it’s calming and makes me feel like I have my sh*t together.

  4. I am so so sooo messy. Y’all would be horrified. I finally cleaned the inside of my car today *including* the trunk which I haven’t done in prob more than a year. Woooo!
